Memory Scrolls
Originally exhibited at Casa de la Cultura as part of the Artformz/Red Nomade, Miami/Valencia Cultural Exchange. The project was part of the Miami artists show in Valencia, Spain. The two Memory Scrolls, which pictorally depict the history of the United States and Spain, were later exhibited in the Manifest Destiny Exhibition at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The original project was part of the Miami artists exchange show in Valencia. The section print proofs were printed on paper. The finished art was printed on cloth. Figuring out the format was creatively tense and exciting, the real heart of the work is the provocatively juxtaposed images which enable exploration and contemplation of the two countries' historical, contradictory and often tyrannical exercise of power and simultaneous and unstoppable march of so-called progress.
